Reflectix Insulation Installed on North Wall
Reflectix Insulation Installed on North Wall

The Reflectix North Wall Insulation covers about 1/3 of the polycarbonate glazing panels on the inside of the Growing Dome® all year long. It assists with keeping the greenhouse warm in the winter and cool in the summer, due to the strategic placement on the north side of the dome. The insulation reflects light and radiant energy away from the greenhouse, which provides shade for the Above Ground Pond in the summer. This keeps the water in the pond and the ambient air temperature in the greenhouse cool. In the winter months, the insulation reflects the light and radiant energy from the sun towards the above ground pond. This keeps the water in the pond and the ambient air temperature in the greenhouse warm.

Reflectix Insulation Benefits

Reflectix in the Greenhouse
Reflectix in the Greenhouse

The reflectix used on our greenhouses is double sided so the reflection of radiant energy works in both directions, in all seasons. During the summer solstice, the reflectix reduces the amount of radiant heat transferred to the Growing Dome from the outside. During the winter solstice, the reflectix reduces the amount of radiant heat transferred from the inside of the Growing Dome to the outside. On its own, the reflectix insulation has an R-value of about 1-1.5. Visit Reflectix, Inc. for detailed information and technical data sheets.
